Verifying your email is the one setup step to create your ledger — there's still no password to manage and no bank to connect. We send a 6-digit code (or magic link); you enter it once. It confirms a real inbox, unlocks your free 5-instrument tier, and lets you start the 3-month Pro trial. We use your email only for sign-in and licensing — never your financial data, which stays encrypted on your device.
After verifying your email, the free tier is yours forever: up to 5 instruments in a single base currency, the net worth dashboard, trend charts, savings goals, an AES-256 encrypted local vault, and manual .ledgr / Excel export. No card needed. When you want unlimited instruments, multi-currency, cashflow, badges, or cloud backup, start the Pro trial or upgrade.
The 3-month free trial of Pro unlocks unlimited instruments, multi-currency conversion, cashflow tracking, achievement badges, encrypted cloud backup, and priority email support. You start it through secure Stripe checkout — your card is saved but not charged until the trial ends on day 91. Begin it from this pricing page, during onboarding, or any time from Settings → Account. Cancel before day 91 and you pay nothing.
Unless you cancel first, your subscription begins automatically at the end of the trial on the plan you chose (monthly or yearly). Want to stop before then? Cancel anytime from Settings → Account and you won't be charged — your registered account drops to read-only: you can still view and export your data freely, but adding new entries, cloud backup, and currency conversion pause. You can also sign out and use ledgr anonymously again — the 5-instrument single-currency free tier returns.
We canonicalise emails (so john+work@gmail.com and j.o.h.n@gmail.com are treated as the same person) and treat one verified email as one trial. Disposable mailbox providers are also blocked. The intent isn't to police edge cases — it's to make the trial a real evaluation, not an indefinite free tier.
Yes. The free tier — 5 instruments, one base currency, local-only — is permanent and ad-free once you've verified your email. The trial is opt-in; if you skip it (or after it ends), you simply stay on the free tier, and you only see the paywall when you reach for a Pro feature.
We use Stripe Checkout, which accepts major credit and debit cards plus a range of regional payment methods (Apple Pay, Google Pay, SEPA, iDEAL, and more depending on your country). Tax is calculated and shown before you confirm.
Open Settings → Account inside the app and tap 'Cancel subscription'. You keep Pro access until the end of the billing cycle you've already paid for, and we send a confirmation email. You can resubscribe any time without losing your data.
Open Settings → Account inside the app and tap 'Delete account'. We remove your account row, sessions, and license server-side. If you have an active subscription, it's scheduled to cancel at the end of the current billing cycle. Your local vault stays untouched — you can keep using ledgr anonymously, or wipe it from your browser settings.
Your local vault stays intact — we never touch it. After your paid period ends, your registered account drops back to read-only on this device so you can still see and export everything. You can resubscribe at any time to resume writing.
